Ms. Rhoda Sufian-Kargbo Nuni is the President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association and Vice President, West Africa Region of the African Bar Association. She holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honors (LL.B (Hons.)) from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, Canada. She was called to the Sierra Leone Bar and the Bar of Ontario, Canada.
Ms. Nuni is a Partner in the law firm of Jenkins-Johnston and Co. She worked as a Legal Adviser and Senior Legal Adviser in the Appeals Chamber of the Special Court for Sierra Leone both in Freetown and The Hague, Netherlands. She is also currently Consultant Senior Legal Adviser to the President and Chambers of the Special Court’s Residual Body – the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone. Ms Nuni taught International Criminal Law, Procedure and Practice at the Sierra Leone Law School between 2010 and 2012.
Ms.Nuni has also served as Vice President of the Association and is currently one of its representatives on the Law Reform Commission. She was also the Chairperson of Legal Access through Women Yearning for Equality Rights and Social Justice (L.A.W.Y.E.R.S) from 2014 to 2016. She is passionate about human rights and women’s and children’s rights, and is married to Mr. Shekou Ansumana Nuni. They are blessed with children.
