Ibrahim Sorie is a former President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association. He was first elected in June 2014 and re-elected in 2015 for a second one year term in. His tenure as President ended in June 2016.
Mr. Sorie is a result oriented professional, a performer who gets the job done while maintaining the highest ethical standard. He is a skilled litigator and consummate solicitor who possesses a sharp intellect and is solution driven. He handles commercial and corporate matters including but not limited to joint ventures, acquisitions, mergers, liquidations and incorporating companies. His experience also covers a wide range of legal issues which include commercial law and business transaction’s, litigation, procurement, conveyancing and real estate, mines and minerals law, family law and immigration. He has had prior experience drafting legislation relating to arbitration and agriculture and also has significant experience advising on contracts of employment, usually dealing with issues of termination, benefits, and redundancies. Mr. Sorie has worked both in Sierra Leone and the United States where he worked for laws firms and a Government contractor providing specialized services to U.S. Government agencies.
He holds two masters’ degrees from the George Washington University (a top 20 Law School in the United States) in International & Comparative Law (2003), as well as in Litigation & Dispute Resolution (2005). He obtained a Bachelor of Laws with Honours (LL.B. (Hons.) degree from the University of Sierra Leone in 1999. He is admitted to practice law in three jurisdictions and a member of the Bar in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 2007, the State of New York since 2006, and the Republic of Sierra Leone since 2000. He is also a member of the American Bar Association.
